1. PICK OUT A SCAR YOU HAVE, AND EXPLAIN HOW YOU GOT IT?
I have a scar along the bottom of my chin that I got when I fell off the flying fox at school when I was six.

2. WHAT IS ON THE WALLS IN YOUR ROOM?
A Watchmen poster, a Who Framed Roger Rabbit poster (which I got when I was three years old), and various postcards and film posters.

3. WHAT DOES YOUR PHONE LOOK LIKE?
It's an absolutely ancient Nokia 3315. It's the only phone I've ever had.

4. WHAT MUSIC DO YOU LISTEN TO?
Trip-hop, electronica, trance, house, shoegaze, alternative, alt-country, country, folk, folk-rock, punk-folk, symphonic metal, eurodance, grunge, a huge collection of stuff I can't classify and call '90s music', some hip hop. Pretty much anything. I go for lyrics over sound, so I tend not to limit myself by genre.

6. WHAT DO YOU WANT MORE THAN ANYTHING RIGHT NOW?
PhD funding.

Yes.

8.38am, New York time.

No, thank God.

I used to be terrified of the dark when I was a child. Now...not so much.

I cried about something that happened to one of my sraffie friends.

I'm not really that fussy, although I tend to prefer guys with darker hair.

I can't say I've ever taken any.

I think energy drinks are foul. I am a coffee fiend, provided it's properly-made espresso.

Strawberries and ice-cream.

I honestly don't remember the last time I made someone annoyed and he or she told me.

I used to be able to speak Japanese. Now I can sort of understand Medieval Irish and Latin.

Does losseniaiel buying me a glass of wine count?

Define 'like'. I like lots of people.

22. ARE YOU DOUBLE JOINTED?
No, quite the opposite, which was not so helpful when I was a gymnast.

23. FAVOURITE FRIEND?
I'm closer to some friends than others, but I certainly don't play favourites.

24. WHAT'S YOUR DREAM CAR?
I detest cars.

25. DO YOU BELIEVE IN AFTER-LIFE?
No.

26. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF MARRIAGE?
I don't believe in marriage. My parents never got married, but they lived together for 20 years, had two children together, and had everything that a married couple have, besides a piece of paper validating their relationship. That didn't stop them separating, of course. That being said, I support people who are fighting for marriage equality. Marriage is a right, not a privilege, and everyone should have that right, just as they should have the right to opt out of it.

27. WOULD YOU FALL IN LOVE KNOWING THAT THE PERSON IS LEAVING?
Past experience has taught me that love cannot be reasoned with or controlled.

28. WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO TELL SOMEONE HOW MUCH THEY MEAN TO YOU?
Ugh, I don't know. It depends on the person. But directly telling people 'you mean so much to me' is sometimes a good way to go!

You know I'm never going to say a number besides 12.

Brunettes have more fun, says she-of-a-family-of-brunettes.

32. WHAT ANNOYS YOU MOST?
Hypocrisy and people generally not saying what they mean. I think the world would be a better place if people were more direct and honest, even if their honesty was hurtful.

33. HAVE YOU BEEN OUT OF YOUR BIRTH COUNTRY?
I was born in the US, but lived in Australia from the age of two, so yes. But I think of Australia as my birth country anyway, since my whole family is Australian, I have an Australian accent and a worldview that fits into the broad spectrum of 'Australian' worldviews. I've also been to Indonesia, New Zealand, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Ireland, England, Wales, Japan and Hong Kong, and I've been living in England for the past eight months.

34. YOUR WEAKNESS?
The internet and books.

35. WHAT WAS THE LAST GIFT YOU GAVE?
I paid for my housemate's group birthday present (ticket to Avenue Q).

36. WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE HOLIDAY?
I don't think anything will ever top the two overseas trips I took with Mum and Mimi in 1997 and 1999. The Europe trip Mum and I took in 2005-6 was good, but suffered from lack of Mimi.

37. EVER DONE A PRANK CALL?
Oh yes. Mimi, our family friend C and I went through a phase of making prank calls to places like Neverfail Spring Water and the Jim Beam Hotline (whatever had been advertised on TV when we were watching). We also used to hang around in chatrooms in the late 90s and offer people jobs with a '$1 million salary and company car'. A surprising number of people thought we were for real. Good times.

I wouldn't.

Not one, but two cds bought from a sort of world-music group who were busking at the Bus Depot Markets. Seriously, I know I was a wannabe hippie when I was a teenager, but that was taking things a bit too far.

God no.

People know not to swear me to secrecy. I think people know that if they have things they want kept secret not to tell me.

Are we talking in terms of attraction, or just generally? I'm attracted to personality over looks (that explains my numerous crushes on book characters) but I think this world is still one where people make judgements on you based on looks.

I vent online, usually on IRC or LJ.

No. God no.

This may sound odd coming from an atheist, but I really, really like Christmas. I like being with my family, and I like it how we have our own little rituals that are the same year after year.

Right now, or in general? Right now I don't like anyone, so it's moot. In general, yes, I am too shy to ask people out.
