I hope everyone had as good a Yuletide as I did! It's sometimes hard to find people who like the same small, Yuletide-eligible fandoms as you do, so I thought it would be great to do a friending meme after reveals, so that people could find and add the authors, recipients and commenters who made their 2018 Yuletides so enjoyable.

Please feel free to share this meme far and wide. To participate, just leave a comment on this post, copying the code below and filling in your own answers. I've enabled anonymous commenting so if you don't have a Dreamwidth account you can still participate.

People who didn't participate in Yuletide are also welcome to participate in this friending meme — obviously just leave out answers to the questions regarding Yuletide.

I like to post about/read about: Personal stuff, knitting, writing, reading, pop music, art music
Fandoms (including bigger, non-Yuletide fandoms): Critical Role, Years & Years, anything KJ Charles or Cat Sebastian, anything Seanan McGuire (but not necessarily Mira Grant because I am a wuss when it comes to horror), Shakespeare, Robin Hood, Firefly, A Knight's Tale, many others I am forgetting
This Yuletide I wrote: Operation Lovecraft, teen rated backstory for Barney and Isaacs from KJ Charles' Green Men series
Any recs from this year's Yuletide and/or Madness collection? I haven't had time to read anything except my gifts yet but I will definitely recommend the stunning Sprezzatura by Queue which is an amazing Much Ado blank verse/iambic pentameter monologue by Beatrice
Anything else you want to say: I am always, always looking for more KJ Charles people to squee with, because I don't do Facebook so I am not part of the group there!

I like to post about/read about: I mostly post about life stuff: hobbies, spouses and kid, Judaism. I'm interested in reading other people's journalish things.

Fandoms (including bigger, non-Yuletide fandoms): I'm excessively multifannish. Fandom is my fandom.

This Yuletide I wrote: The Renovators RPF, original She-Ra, The Giant Who Had No Heart in His Body, and knitting anthropomorfic. This is pretty typical.

Any recs from this year's Yuletide and/or Madness collection? I loved every single one of the Foundryside stories, especially the ones that were gifts for me!

Anything else you want to say: I'm in NYC and happy to meet other New Yorkers, especially if you're interested in regular writing meet-ups. I'm a parent of a toddler and happy to meet other parents (and if you're not a parent or interested in reading about kids, I promise I do post about many other things and always tag my kid posts so you can selectively block them).

I'm probably going to take a bit of an internet vacation for the next week or so, but will respond to friend offers/requests after that.

I don't automatically grant access to my locked posts or expect it to be granted to me by people who read me. If you unfollow me/revoke access, I'll assume you had a good reason for it and move on with no hard feelings or "but why???" PMs.

I like to post about/read about: Most of my posts are locked but I am glad to add people. What you find under the lock is a mix of daily life stuff, work stuff (my job is legitimately fascinating: I'm a librarian at a really unusual library), writing (including self-publishing 1920s romance with a bit of magic and mystery plot), magical and religious life (form: religious witchcraft), and other stuff as I find it. I periodically do what my friends call "librarian smash" posts when I hit bits of really awful research, which amuse a number of people.

Fandoms (including bigger, non-Yuletide fandoms): I tend to write in odd fandoms for Yuletide, dabble in a bunch. I have a complex relationship with the Potterverse, which is probably the one I'm most likely to talk about in my journal, and Doctor Who is my second fandom, dating from when I was about 6, in Classic form. I'm also generally a mystery fan. I don't extensively write fic other than a couple of exchanges a year. (I like seeing other people talk about theirs, though!)

This Yuletide I wrote: The Stars Have Never Fallen (Agora 2009)
Any recs from this year's Yuletide and/or Madness collection? My rec post is over here.

I like to post about/read about: writing and narrative structure, links and recommendations, comedy, kink, asexuality, and anything involving dogs
Fandoms (including bigger, non-Yuletide fandoms): Currently fallen into an Adventure Zone well, send help.
This Yuletide I wrote: Space probes reading fanfiction, a forest ranger doing kinky stuff with a magic sword, and two coworkers venturing out for lunch.
Any recs from this year's Yuletide and/or Madness collection?I am still not over the Gore Vidal/William F. Buckley epistolary hatesex tbh. Full rec list here.

Oh, what a great idea! I didn't do Yuletide, but I love meeting new fandomy people.

Archive of Our Own username: AuthorByNight or some variation. (I've had Author By Night as a fanfic name since January 2001. So eighteen years!)

Usernames on other platforms (Dreamwidth, Tumblr, Twitter etc): author_by_night here and on LJ. authorbynight on tumblr, but the last time I updated, people were still riding horse and buggies. :P

Preferred platform(s): DW/LJ.

I like to post about/read about: Fandom meta (I post more general than specific fandom things these days, but love meta about shows/books I love), thoughts on various media, creative writing, genealogy, social commentary. (Generally less political and more "why people do this weird thing".) Some real life, but very few "day to day" posts. I also get a little snarky and silly from time to time. I'm here to both go deep AND have fun.

b>Fandoms (including bigger, non-Yuletide fandoms): The Good Place, Harry Potter, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Other fan interests (that I'd totally read meta and maybe fic for) are Firefly, Buffyverse, and Mad Men.

This Yuletide I wrote: Nothing.

Any recs from this year's Yuletide and/or Madness collection?

Anything else you want to say: I don't really have a "policy" when it comes to unfriending or whatnot. That being said, if we interact a lot I'd like to know why you defriended me, but I also realize that sometimes you add people and just realize after a while that you have very little in common. No hard feelings whatsoever.

I like to post about/read about: fiction, poetry, songs, music, slice of life, linkspam... I post fairly sporadically but I'm a good commenter.
Fandoms (including bigger, non-Yuletide fandoms): Um... lots? I prefer ratings of Gen, PG-13, and Teen. Love most pairings.
One probably unknown fandom is Polychrome Heroics, written by [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith, [personal profile] dialecticdreamer, and [personal profile] siliconshaman, published on DW and LJ.
This Yuletide I wrote: Separated By A Common Language
Any recs from this year's Yuletide and/or Madness collection? Definitely! Ongoing list here: https://archiveofourown.org/users/tigerbright/bookmarks
Anything else you want to say: One of my holiday wishes this year was for remixes of my fics. I can't participate in remix challenges because I rarely write more than one story in any given fandom.

Usernames on other platforms (Dreamwidth, Tumblr, Twitter etc): Tumblr: Shadaras; this is my Dreamwidth
Preferred platform(s): I use tumblr and Dreamwidth for very different things; I reblog pretty aesthetic stuff and fandom stuff and puns on tumblr, and actually occasionally post about my life on dreamwidth now that I'm actually using it.
I like to post about/read about: People's lives and what they're reading! Also fandom meta is cool.
Fandoms (including bigger, non-Yuletide fandoms): Things I'm actively fannish about: Star Wars (inc. old EU, not inc. new EU), superhero movies (+fandom-osmosis of comics), Friends at the Table (podcast), Star Trek (mostly Discovery, but I have a fondness for the rest too), Killjoys (TV).
Things I just like: A lot of books! I'll list out some authors, in no order other than when I thought of them: Ursula K. Le Guin, Tamora Pierce, Yoon Ha Lee, Aliette de Bodard, J. Y. Yang, Ann Leckie, Max Gladstone.
This Yuletide I wrote: For my assignment: be/loved (Star Trek: Discovery) - Michael Burnham and Ash Tyler talk about their feelings and trauma/hangups about potentially beginning a relationship.
As a treat:Work Your Way Our (Friends at the Table: Twilight Mirage) - A series of vignettes about Signet and Grand Magnificent and how they and their relationship have changed over the years. Grand Mag character study across the show, really.
Any recs from this year's Yuletide and/or Madness collection? Post here!
Anything else you want to say: I like people! The tumblr exodus is what brought me to dreamwidth, really, so I haven't quite gotten used to how it works yet -- but I'm trying to figure it out and talk to people more here. :)

This Yuletide I wrote: I didn’t participate this year, but in previous years I have written in Peter Pan, The Borgias, Victoria, The Man In the High Castle, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, Emily of New Moon, and Penny Dreadful.
Anything else you want to say: I like history and sewing. I have two dogs and four cats.

I am less fannish than I used to be, but I'd like to write some more this year, and I still keep in touch with friends on journal sites even when fannish links have lapsed. My job is in archives, and though I need to keep that fairly separate I do like to read and share things about history too.
Fandoms (including bigger, non-Yuletide fandoms): I used to write a load of Buffy and remain fond of the show, but I mostly write history/fantasy stuff now and my main enthusiasms are books

I like to post about/read about: Most of my posts relate to things I'm doing to grow as a writer, though I do throw in some movie reviews or life stuff every now and again. I like to read everything from fan squee posts to reviews to fanworks to "getting to know you" memes to day-to-day journal content.
Fandoms (including bigger, non-Yuletide fandoms): Classic and gothic horror films and TV shows, including but definitely not limited to Universal monsters and Hammer Horror everything. Star Wars, most specifically the original trilogy, Rogue One, and the Clone Wars TV shows. Batman, particularly Batman: the Animated Series. Gothic horror and ghost stories (Bram Stoker, Edgar Allen Poe, Wilkie Collins, Shirley Jackson, etc.)
This Yuletide I wrote: Fascination. It's an adventure-horror prequel to Horror of Dracula, in which Jonathan Harker becomes obsessed with the stranger Van Helsing, and finds himself becoming more and more immersed in his mysterious and dangerous world.
Any recs from this year's Yuletide and/or Madness collection? The Moomin story Wintersong is quite charming, and the D&D-themed Golden Girls story Golden Dragons made me chuckle.

Fandoms (including bigger, non-Yuletide fandoms): Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, Raffles, Sherlock Holmes, Discworld, Tolkien and, recently, Doctor Who.

I like to post about/read about: I mostly post about my life, photos often enough, and sometimes reviews about books or TV shows. I'd like to be more fannish in my journal, though, and I enjoy reading about other people being fannish, even fandoms I don't share. Fannish enthusiasm is contagious! At the moment I'd love to find other Rivers of London fans to discuss Lies Sleeping with.

Fandoms (including bigger, non-Yuletide fandoms): I am multifannish. My main fandoms are Rivers of London, Merlin, Sherlock, Veronica Mars and Firefly. I adore costume dramas and I enjoy most cop/mystery books/TV shows.

Any recs from this year's Yuletide and/or Madness collection? I've only started dipping into the collection today, so not yet. Christmas is a pretty busy time of year and I have a newborn.

Anything else you want to say: My journal is mostly locked because I talk about my life a lot, but I grant access to anyone who asks for it.

I have two kids but I promise I am not one of those parents who just talk about their children all the time.

I'm still building my recs, but I cannot get enough of the story [archiveofourown.org profile] suitablyskippy wrote for me where our boundaries were thinnest, 17k of We Have Always Lived in the Castle [Merricat/Constance], a prequel to the book. Fandoms (including bigger, non-Yuletide fandoms): Fantastic Beasts, HP, Hornblower, LOTR, Master and Commander, The Singer not the Song, The Terror and Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell (have yet to write for those), Star Trek, many others; I tend to love historical fandoms and am really glad this Yuletide nudged me into writing about the Romantic Poets, so there'll be more of that in future :)

Any recs from this year's Yuletide and/or Madness collection? I'm afraid I only had the time to read my own gifts so far, but I definitely rec them both - Everything is Permissible by spring_bloom - The Singer not the Song (1961) Father Keogh/Anacleto, and Studiously Yours by misura - Hornblower (TV) Hornblower/Pellew
Anything else you want to say: I'm all about m/m slash. I've long since stopped pretending I want to read or write anything else, in fandom terms. I'm tolerant of everything that doesn't hurt anyone, so unless you're any kind of bigot, we'll probably get along. Fairy tales and classical mythology. I do multi-fandom challenges and am very eclectic in what I read and write for.
This Yuletide I wrote: The Harvest of Orhoch, a Left Hand of Darkness fic.
Any recs from this year's Yuletide and/or Madness collection? I haven't had a chance to do much reading this year so I'm rather behind. However, as well as my lovely gifts (which were in The Nanny and Seafort Saga fandoms), I really enjoyed the Culture fics this year, and Sail is particularly delightful. The Amazing Adventures of Gay-bi-wan Kenobi and Bicurious Lad (an Askewniverse fic) made me laugh out loud and is perfectly in character.
